  • The National Association of Public Librarians and Libraries in Romania - ANBPR, having as partners The National Library of Romania, “Octavian Goga” County Library Cluj, “Vasile Voiculescu” County Library Buzău, “George Barițiu” County Library Brașov, “Dinicu Golescu” County Library Argeș and “V.A. Urechia” County Library Galați, with the involvement of ECDL ROMANIA, will implement, under the auspices of the European Programming Week, the project entitled 3D Printing Challenge in Libraries - Innovation and Tech Practice for Students, funded by Google, within the Google's Europe Code Week Grants competition.
     
    The project proposes the organization of 3D modeling & printing workshops (one in each location: Bucharest, Cluj, Brașov, Pitești, Buzău and Galați), through which innovative technology is broght in libraries, being presented to children and youngsters from vulnerable groups. Taking into account that libraries are spaces connected to technology and open to innovation, during the 3D Printing workshops, children and young people will become familiar with 3D modeling and printing techniques and the benefits of using this new technology in everyday practice, in the educational activity, but also in the perspective of the diversification of occupations and of an increasingly competitive labor market.
     
    The workshop schedule will have the following structure:

    Through this educational intervention based on new technologies, ANBPR, partner libraries and ECDL ROMANIA wish to contribute to the familiarization of a group of 600 users of library services (between 11-18 years) with 3D modeling and printing techniques, as well as with the benefits of new ones, technologies for the digital transformation of teaching / learning and the formation of a community of creative children and young people, open to innovation and responsive to the challenges of the digital world.
